Sigismund Playing Cards

The design of Sigismund Playing Cards is inspired by the history and ambience of the powerful European kingdom which existed for 770 years and now is forgotten by many.

Sigismund was the name of three kings who reigned in that kingdom.

The idea of designing a new deck of cards has been in my mind for a long time, but I have only now accomplished my goal. My dream was to create a totally new look and high quality of playing cards. Artistic design was inspired by old-time woodcut prints and also by my nostalgic feelings for Europe, where I come from. My aim was to introduce the historical figures and create cards not only as a commercial product but especially as an artistic challenge. It took me over a year of work on all aspects of this project. That time was necessary to refine to perfection all elements of the design.
